OB Kitchen Remodel

The existing kitchen was dated with appliances and cabinets from the 1950's and tile counter tops with linoleum floors. The kitchen had very little natural light, one of the two windows faced the solid, stucco wall of the neighbor's house on the west side. I kept the original layout and selected new stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops and designed custom cabinets.

A 7' window was installed over the sink to maximize the view of the ocean, bay, lagoon and the distant mountains. A skylight with a light well was installed in the center of the room. The west side window was closed off and a pantry was created with a drywall enclosure and shelving. Custom birch cabinets were built to my specifications and granite was used for the counter tops, full backsplash and a built-in corner dining area. Modern shoji style doors were fabricated from birch stained to match the cabinets and are hung from a metal track above. White oak floors were installed to match the flooring in the rest of the house. The end result is a sunny, welcoming kitchen by day and stunning views at night of the lights of Mission Bay and the fireworks at Sea World.
